The Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development intends to amend the Children’s Act 2006 to ban corporal punishment of children in schools, communities and homes. While I support the ministry’s wish to ban corporal punishment in schools and communities, I cannot agree with their proposal to ban corporal punishment in homes.
A teacher might not have an emotional attachment to a child, but a parent does and when a parent or guardian entrusted with a child’s care uses corporal
