Walk to work demos paralyse major towns

The walk to work demonstrations yesterday took a regional dimension with reported clashes between protesters and police in Masaka, Jinja, Hoima and Mbale towns. In Hoima, the outgoing municipality mayor Francis Atugonza was arrested as he walked to work.
Atugonza, of the Opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) and Ismail Kasule, the FDC youth vice chairman western, were arrested near Kabagembe fuel station while walking towards the mayor’s office in Duhaga.
