Property worth millions burnt

Property worth hundreds of millions was lost when fire gutted the Tariq Habib complex. According to police, the fire that started at about 1am in the night burnt the building at the junction of Gokhale Road West and Main Street in Jinja town, destroying assorted merchandise in eight shops. Tariq Usuma, the Somali owner of the complex said police managed to stop the fire, suspected to have started after a short circuit in Alisha Electronic Spares, from spreading
