When African leaders compete for aristocratic glamour

I was riveted by the humongous amounts being peddled around by some Uganda government officials, claiming that four billion shillings will be used for the swearing-in ceremony of president-elect Yoweri Museveni.

Hardly had I internalised the shock of a poor country like Uganda having to spend so much taxpayers’ money on a single ceremony covering only one day, than I landed on another shocker: the royal wedding of Prince William and Catherine (Kate) Middleton on April 29.
