Red Cross warns of fresh ‘Bududa-like’ mudslides

MBALE - The Uganda Red Cross Society (URCS) has put government on alert, urging it to get ready to handle deadly landslides in the Elgon region. Stephen Wamukota, the URCS Regional Programme Manager said the districts of Mbale, Manafwa, Bududa, Kapchorwa, Sironko and Butaleja in the Elgon zone usually get heavy rainfall that sweeps loose soils that cause mudslides and splash floods in the low lying areas.
