Magistrates probed over execution of court orders

The High Court has instituted a commission of inquiry into allegations that civil debtors detained at Luzira prison are denied justice at the magistrates’ courts.

The six-member commission of inquiry was ordered by Chief Justice Benjamin Odoki to effect investigations over the allegation by interviewing individual civil debtors at
Luzira prison after which recommendations will be made to hold magistrates, clerks and court bailiffs at the various courts
