Government says the high fees charged by labour agents is having a negative effect on the external labour sector, as many Ugandans cannot afford them to access foreign employment opportunities.
Milton Turyasima, the Commissioner of External Labour in the Ministry of Labour, says some agents are charging as high as US$1000 per person, making it hard for recruitment agencies in Uganda to find recruits. He revealed this during the handover of work permits to a group of 30
