Mid last year, the French press reported that President Nicolas Sarkozy had banned tall bodyguards from his immediate security detail. Sarkozy, who stands at just about 5ft 5 inches, is one of the shortest heads of state in the world. He is even shorter than Napoleon Bonaparte.
Sarkozy is notoriously sensitive and secretive about his diminutive height, and has gone out of his way not to stand small on the world stage or when next to his 5ft 10 inches former model wife,
