As former Speaker of Parliament Edward Ssekandi takes office as the ‘de-facto’ government number two, he’ll have to walk a steady line – one that keeps him well aware of the dangers of being vice president. Much as his chances of replacing President Yoweri Museveni are slim, he could have been offered the same poisoned chalice his sacked predecessor Gilbert Bukenya was handed eight years ago.
