Higher sugar price feared as Kakira shuts down

Jane Kakaire, a mother of four who resides Mayuge, is a worried woman because her children may soon miss sugar in their porridge.
Reason? The price of sugar will go up as the country’s major producer, Kakira Sugar Works Ltd, prepares to shut down for annual maintenance. The factory will not be in production for about six weeks.

With the cost of living already knocking basic items off the shopping list of many Ugandans, if the price goes up as expected sugar will be out
