Since the passing of the legislation outlawing Female Genital Mutilation in Uganda, hundreds of young girls have crossed into neighbouring Kenya where the barbaric act is still widely practiced,
to undergo the cut.
The French envoy whose government has provided Shs700m to fight the practice among the Pokot and Sabiny communities in Karamoja, said that they have petitioned the Kenyan Parliament to pass
a law banning the practice.
