Makerere Chancellor blasts govt over high food prices

Makerere University Chancellor Mondo Kagonyera yesterday blasted the government over the escalating prices of food stuff and other basic necessities in the country. Kagonyera, who was chief guest at the university’s third annual research conference in Kampala, said the current hike in prices especially for food stuffs would not be there if the government had put in place food reserves.

He said: “There is no reason why this country does not have food reserves. This is just ridiculous.
