Mr President, talking is useful

President Museveni called a meeting on Tuesday with the opposition to confront the thorny issue of high food and fuel prices that have triggered weeks of protests. The call for dialogue seems to signal new thinking in State House and an admission that the sheer brute force used so far to quell dissent is not yielding any tangible results. The brute force to all intents and purposes has proven counter-productive instead.
