The dust has finally settled. We have a new Parliament duly constituted. It is a Parliament of many firsts. For the first time in the history of parliamentary democracy in Uganda, the 9th Parliament is now headed by a woman in Kamuli Woman MP Rebecca Kadaga. Her ascendency to the top job is a personal feat for this gender rights activist.
Kadaga is deputized by Omoro County MP Jacob Oulanyah, who makes a comeback to the House after five years in political limbo.
