Banks agree deal to finance agriculture

Despite agriculture employing 85 percent of Uganda`s 33 million people, the sector has had less attraction from commercial lending. Most people in agriculture practice subsistence farming but that could soon change.

This follows the World Banks growing financing into agriculture following the increasing droughts a result of the changing global weather patterns and a growing world population that is projected to hit the 7 billion people mark by end of 2011.
