‘Agriculture should be insured’

Bank of Uganda deputy governor Luis Kasekende has argued that agriculture should be insured since it is the country’s backbone and 80 per cent of the people depend on it. Kasekende said this during the third annual banking finance and insurance expo held at Lugogo Exhibition Hall.

He also called for mass sensitisation in rural areas because most insurance companies are centred in urban areas “and people in villages are ignorant”. “We are performing poorly compared to our neighbours
