Kakira workers strike over pay

Jinja - Over 200 Workers of Kakira Sugar Works were on strike protesting poor pay and unfavourable conditions at the work place. The workers, who began the sit down strike by refusing to go offices last week, accused the management of paying them salaries that do not match with the increasing commodity prices.

The workers, who said they are paid between Shs30, 000 and 70, 000 a month, demanded that their salaries be raised to a minimum
